A 3x3 stall gives you 9 square metres, about 97 sq ft, and it is usually open on one or two sides. That is enough for one clear message, one thing for visitors to do, and one or two people from your team. It is not enough for everything you sell. The 3x3 stalls that work pick one reason for visitors to stop and give it the best spot on the stand.
This guide is for exhibitors and agencies planning a 3x3 or similar small exhibition stall in India. It covers layout, walls, lighting, what to leave out, and how to fit an activity such as a photo booth or a branded game into 9 square metres.
Shell scheme or raw space
Many 3x3 stalls at Indian trade fairs are booked as shell scheme, where the organiser provides basic walls, a fascia board with your name, flooring and a few standard fittings. Some exhibitors book the same 9 square metres as raw space and have a fabricator build a custom stall. Check your exhibitor manual for exactly what your package includes, since it differs from show to show.
With shell scheme, your design work is graphics, lighting, furniture and what you put on the floor. With raw space, you control the structure too, but the height limits and fire rules in the manual still apply.
Plan the 3x3 floor in three zones
Divide the 9 square metres into three zones before you choose anything else:
- The front edge. The first metre from the aisle. Keep it open, and put the one thing visitors should notice here: a product, a demo or an activity.
- The middle. Where conversations happen. Space for two or three people to stand with your team member.
- The back wall. Your main graphic and message, plus storage hidden behind or under a counter.
The most common mistake on a 3x3 stall is a table across the front edge. It turns the stall into a counter and keeps visitors in the aisle. Put the table against a side wall or drop it.
3x3 stall design ideas that work
1. One message on the back wall
The back wall is the only surface visitors see from a distance. Use it for your name, one line on what you do, and one image. Product lists, certificates and specifications can go on a side wall at eye level, or in a QR code.
2. Light the stall brighter than the aisle
Shell-scheme stalls usually come with a few basic spotlights. Add more on your product and back wall, and a lit header or light box if the rules allow it. A brighter stall looks open and busy from further down the aisle.
3. One activity, at the front
On a large stand you can run several activities. On 9 square metres, choose one and give it the front. The activity is what turns a small stall into a stop.
A photo booth fits well. The Pikcha AI photo booth has a footprint of about 6.3 sq ft, under a tenth of a 3x3 stall, and needs one power point. Place it on the open side, angled to the aisle, with room in front for a group to pose. Visitors take home a 4x6 print or a 2x6 strip with your logo on the frame, and get a copy on WhatsApp or by QR code. An attendant from our team runs the booth, so your one or two stall staff stay free to talk.
A branded game is the other strong choice: one of our games in your colours, with a QR code to your sign-up form or offer. On a 3x3 stall it needs a clear area for the player and the people watching, so plan it on the open side. Tell us your stall layout and we will suggest the format that fits.

4. Wall-mounted shelves, not floor stands
Floor display stands eat the space visitors need. Shelves on the side walls, at eye level, show products without blocking the floor. Check the manual for what can be fixed to shell-scheme panels.
5. Storage you cannot see
Boxes of brochures and stock fill a small stall fast. Use a lockable counter with storage inside, or a small store behind a false back wall if your package allows one. Bring a day's stock at a time if you can restock.
6. One screen at most
A single screen showing a short product video on loop works on a 3x3 stall. Several screens compete with each other and with your back wall. Mount it high enough to be seen over people standing at the stall.
7. Floor graphics that pull people in
A printed floor or a colour change at the edge of the stall marks your space and draws the eye in from the aisle. Check whether the organiser allows floor graphics and what material they require.

8. Two people, not five
Five staff on a 3x3 stall leave no room for visitors. Two is usually enough: one at the front edge greeting people, one in the middle handling conversations. Rotate the rest in shifts.
What to leave out of a 3x3 stall
- A table across the front.
- Every product in the range. Bring the best two or three.
- Stacks of brochures. Use a QR code to a digital brochure.
- More than one activity.
- Chairs for staff at the front.
Corner and two-side open 3x3 stalls
If your 3x3 stall is open on two sides, you have two front edges. Use the side facing the busier aisle for the activity, and the other side for your product and conversations. A photo booth or game on the corner itself can be seen from both aisles, which makes the corner the most valuable square metre on the stall.

A simple 3x3 stall layout
- Front left (open side): photo booth or branded game, angled to the aisle.
- Front right: your hero product on a plinth.
- Middle: open floor for two or three visitors and one team member.
- Side wall: shelves with two or three more products and a QR code to the brochure.
- Back wall: name, one-line message, one image, a screen if you need one.
- Back corner: lockable counter with storage, for enquiries and stock.

Frequently asked questions
How big is a 3x3 exhibition stall?
3 metres by 3 metres, which is 9 square metres or about 97 sq ft. An inline stall is open on one side; a corner stall is open on two.
How do I make a small exhibition stall stand out?
Keep the front open, put one clear message on the back wall, light the stall brighter than the aisle, and give visitors one thing to do, such as a photo booth or a branded game, on the open side.
Will a photo booth fit on a 3x3 stall?
Yes. The Pikcha AI photo booth has a footprint of about 6.3 sq ft and needs one power point, so it fits on the open side of a 3x3 stall with room in front for a group to pose.
Can a game fit on a small stall?
Yes, if it is the only activity and it sits on the open side. Bamigos.com makes its own arcade and interactive games and can put your brand's look on them. Share your stall layout and we will suggest the format that fits.
Who runs the photo booth on our stall?
An attendant from our team runs the booth every day of the expo, so your stall staff can focus on visitors.
Make 9 square metres count
A 3x3 stall cannot show everything, so let it do one thing well. Give visitors a reason to stop at the front, a clear message on the back wall, and something with your brand on it to take away.
